Common deck repair issues
A deck that looks fine from a distance can still have problems worth fixing before they get worse โ popped or rusted fasteners, boards that flex or feel soft, railings that wobble when leaned on, and stairs that have started to pull away from the deck frame. Catching these early is usually a lot cheaper than waiting until a board fails or a railing becomes unsafe.
It's also worth having a deck checked before a restaining job, since stain won't hide a structural problem and a contractor may not want to stain over boards that need to be replaced anyway.
